Day 43 Rest Day in Bismark

7/9/18

Today was a rest day with a service project, painting a garage, outdoor windows, and  weeding a garden at the home of a woman with MS.

These are some of my least favorite things to do…so it must in fact be a “service project”

We worked for 4 hours in cooler conditions and had a wonderful lunch. To our surprise the MS patient donated $200 to the ride.

After the project we went off to separate hours of chores beneath a sky filled with pretornado clouds.

Tonight we are inside safe and sound as  we prepare for 12 days until our next rest stop in Whitefish Montana.

Day 41 Perfect Storm

7/718

Today the White Rabbit is too exhausted to tell a story.

106 heat index
blazing sun
100 miles through rural North Dakota
1 town of 300 people who were very rude to us… no other towns along the way
15-20 mph side and headwinds
50 miles of rollers at the apex of the heat of the day
9 hours 37 minutes in the saddle
campground with a broken toilet… the shower works

But the day is done and all is well. Soon to bed to start over again tomorrow

PS As I fade off the cottonwoods around me are shimmering and whispering in the breeze… no better way to fall asleep.
